The CBSE Class 12 board exams, a crucial milestone for Indian students, are fast approaching, with the first paper scheduled for February 15, 2025. Notice writing carries 4 crucial marks in the CBSE Class 12 English exam.

Here are some valuable tips to prepare for notice writing. By following these suggestions and practising regularly, students can increase their chance of scoring high in English in CBSE Class 12 Board exams.

  • Understand the format: Stick to the prescribed format: start with the heading, followed by the name of the organization, date, and body of the notice, and end with the signature, name, and designation of the issuing authority.
  • Be Clear and Concise: Use simple language to communicate the purpose of the notice clearly. Avoid unnecessary details or overly complex sentences.

  • Focus on Key Points: Address the 5Ws: What, When, Where, Who, and Why. Ensure all essential information is included to make the notice complete and informative.
  • Use Proper Language: Write in the third person and maintain a formal tone throughout the notice. Avoid abbreviations or casual phrases.
  • Stick to the Word Limit: Keep the notice between 40 to 50 words. Being brief is crucial for scoring well.
  • Highlight Important Information: Use bold or underlined text for key details such as dates, times, or venues to draw attention to critical points.
  • Practise Time Management: While practising, time yourself to ensure you can draft a notice within the allotted time during the exam.
  • Review Common Errors: Double-check grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Marks can be lost due to avoidable errors.
  • Analyze Sample Questions: Review previous years’ questions or sample papers to understand the variety of scenarios that may be asked.
  • Seek Feedback: Write practice notices and ask teachers or peers for constructive feedback to refine your writing skills.
