Eligibility Criteria for IIT JEE
Eligibility criteria for candidates who aspire to pursue B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence from eminent institutions, such as IITs need to fulfill all the eligibility criteria notified by the concerned authorities.
Educational Qualifications: Candidates must secure a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in their Class XII Board examination, with at least five subjects. For students from Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Person with Disability (PwD) categories, the required aggregate is 65%.
Years of Appearance in Qualifying Exam: Candidates who completed their Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2022 or 2023, or are set to appear in 2024, are eligible to take the JEE (Main) 2024 exam, regardless of their age. However, they may need to meet the specific age requirements of the institutes where they wish to seek admission.
State of Eligibility: The State code of eligibility for JEE (Main) 2023 is based on where a candidate completed their Class 12 (or equivalent) exam, not their place of residence. For example, a candidate who completed Class 12 in Delhi but lives in Uttar Pradesh will have Delhi as their State code of eligibility. For those who passed from one state and took improvement exams in another, the original state remains their eligibility code.
For National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) students, the eligibility is based on the location of their study center. Indian nationals who completed Class 12 in Nepal or Bhutan will use their permanent Indian address for eligibility. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) candidates who studied in India follow the same rules as Indian nationals, but those who studied abroad can only apply for Other State or All India quota seats.
Interested and eligible candidates must prepare for the Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) Mains and secure rank in the the top 2.5 lakh out of the more than 12 lakh candidates who take the JEE Main exam each year. Candidates qualifying for the Mains exam will then proceed to the next step which is the JEE Advance exam. Candidates qualifying the IIT JEE Advance exam will make their way to the Indian Institute of Technology.
