UPSC has conducted an examination for engineering services every year. This year Union Public Service Commission will release the notification for UPSC ESE on September 25, 2019. UPSC Indian Engineering Services is a Group ‘A’ level examination. It is also known as the Engineering Services Examination. Selected candidates will be posted in various Governmental departments. Candidates who wish to apply for UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2020 will able to fill the online application through the official website of Commission i.e. upsc.gov.in from September 25 to October 15, 2019. UPSC ESE Eligibility Criteria 2020
Union Public Service Commission has set some eligibility norms that candidates must complete. The eligibility criteria are given below:
ESE 2020 Nationality
Candidates who wish to apply for ESE must be
- A citizen of India. Or
- A subject of Nepal. Or
- A subject of Bhutan. Or
- A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India. Or
- An Indian origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
ESE 2020 Age Limit
- Candidate must have completed 21 years of age and not exceed than 30 years of age on January 1st of the examination year.
- Candidates have not been born before January 2, 1990, and have not been born after January 1, 1999.
- There is an upper limit age relaxation for the candidates who belong to reserved categories.

ESE 2020 Educational Qualification
- Candidates must have an engineering degree from the recognized University/Institute.
UPSC ESE Application Form 2020
UPSC IES Application form 2020 will be available on September 29, 2019. Application Form will be available on the official website of UPSC. Candidates who wish to fill the application form will have to fulfil eligibility criteria otherwise commission will reject their application form. UPSC ESE application forms will be available till October 15, 2019.
Application fee
- Candidates who are belonging to Unreserved and OBC category are required to pay ₹200/- application fee.
- All-female candidates, SC/ST candidates are exempted from the application fee.
- Candidates can pay the fee by cash, by using the net banking and through debit/credit card.
How to apply for UPSC ESE 2019?
- First of all, you must go to UPSC’s official website www.upsconline.nic.in.
- Click on the application link “Online application for various examinations of UPSC”.
- Now, you can see the UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2019 application link here on this page.
- You have to register for UPSC ESE 2019.
- Fill in the personal details on the application form and generate an application number.
- Save this application number for login and other purposes.
- Pay application fee, upload documents.
- Submit the application and save it for future reference.
UPSC ESE Admit Card 2020
Union Public Service Commission will issue the admit card for preliminary examination and main examination three weeks before the examination. The UPSC IES 2020 examination will be held on January 5, 2020, so the commission will issue the Admit Card in the second or third week of December 2019. Candidates will download their admit directly through the commission’s website upsconline.nic.in. You have to carry a valid photo ID proof with admit card in the exam centre.

UPSC ESE Exam Pattern and Selection Process 2020
UPSC has decided three-stage selection criteria for Indian Engineering Services.
Preliminary Exam
It consists of two objective types (multiple choice) question paper that is carrying 500 marks. Those candidates who will qualify the prelim exam will be selected for the Main exam. There is one-third marks negative marking for each wrong answer.

Personality Test
Personality test focuses on character, leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, strategy and ability to assess other social properties, mental and physical energy, practical application powers, and ability of the candidate. It consists of 200 marks.
